Meet the Marshmellow Skies Team

The team was commissioned by Warner Music to remix five of the most loved Joni Mitchell records in Dolby Atmos, including “The Asylum Albums” (“Court and Spark”, “Miles of Aisles”, “The Hissing of Summer Lawns”, and “For the Roses”), released by Rhino Records in September 2022, and “Joni Mitchell At Newport Live”, released in July 2023, which won the 2024 Grammy for Best Folk Album.
 

In 2019, Ken and a group of investors purchased the Sausalito Record Plant, the studio where he recorded the iconic Fleetwood Mac album “Rumours”. The studio is being renovated and Caillat hopes to reopen it soon as a full service recording and a museum of the rich history of the legendary music that was created there.
 

In 2012 Ken founded Sleeping Giant Records and combined forces with Alcon Entertainment, and later went on to start ArtistMax, an artist development and education enterprise based in Westlake Village, CA, along with his business partner and Director of A&R, Nitanee Paris.
 

In 1989-1997, Ken was co-founder and president of Highway One Media Entertainments, dedicated to create CD-Roms for the new interactive computer media market with clients that included Microsoft, Apple, Intel, Warner Records, the Estate of Elvis Presley and Angel/EMI Records. Highway One created over 200 hit CD-Roms.
 

1998-2003, Ken founded and was the president of 5.1 Entertainment Group Digital Production Services, which has worked on 5.1 DVD Audio conversions of albums for Billy Idol, Frank Sinatra, Pat Benatar, Wilson Phillips, the Beach Boys, Herbie Hancock, David Becker Tribune, and Alice Cooper, in addition to Fleetwood Mac, remastering in 5.1 DVD audio format. Ken has mixed over 200 songs in 96k/24bit 5.1 six channel music from original multi-track sources including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, The Beach Boys, Pat Benetar, Wilson Philips, Fleetwood Mac, Herbie Hancock and Alice Cooper.
 

In 2003 Ken sold 5.1 Entertainment and formed Xepa Digital, to begin the first exclusive audio preservation company. They began working with clients such as Warner Records, Universal Music, BMG, and Sony. During his time there, they preserved more than 10,000 tapes. In 2006 Xepa Digital was purchased by Iron Mountain Inc.

KEN CAILLAT

Ken Caillat is a Grammy-winning record producer and engineer. His legendary work has earned him multiple Grammy nominations including ‘Best Engineered Album’, and the ‘Album of the Year’ Grammy award for Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours”, one the best selling albums of all time. Additionally, he produced Fleetwood Mac’s “Tusk”, “Mirage”, “Live”, and “The Chain Box Set”, and his other credits include superstars Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson, Christine McVie, and many others.
 

Caillat is also a director, author, and musician. In 2012 he released the book “Making Rumours”, a memoir about his experiences producing and engineering the iconic album, and in 2019, he published “Get Tusked”, about the making of the band’s multi-platinum double album,“Tusk”.
 

He is the father of singer-songwriter, Colbie Caillat, and worked to develop and promote her singing career. He was the executive producer, co- producer and co-mixer for her platinum selling album, “Coco”, released by Universal Music Group (UMG) in 2007; for “Breakthrough”, which reached #1 on the Billboard Record Charts in 2009; and for “All of You” in 2011. He also created the Dolby Atmos mix of her single “Worth It” in 2023.
 

In 2023 Caillat opened Marshmellow Skies in Westlake Village, CA, where he built a custom Immersive Audio studio (9.1.6). He partnered with veteran engineer, Claus Trelby (Dishwalla, Sting, Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell) to create the new studio that was expertly designed by famed Acoustician/Studio Designer, George Augspurger. It is equipped with state-of-the-art KRK studio monitors, and supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, and Sony 360, as well as all traditional audio formats.

NITANEE PARIS

Nitanee Paris is the Business Manager at Marshmallow Skies and the Director of A&R at ArtistMax, an artist development and education enterprise founded by Grammy-winning producer Ken Caillat (Fleetwood Mac, Colbie Caillat). She is also the owner and Creative Director of the micro-sync label, Great Minds Sync Alike. Paris is an award-winning songwriter whose work has been featured in TV, films, and commercials. Her credits include: PARAMOUNT, CBS Sports, CMT, NETFLIX, MTV, NICKLEODEON, VH1, BET, BRAVO, The CW, HULU, VIACOM/CBS, Comedy Central, the HALLMARK CHANNEL, Apple Fitness, Peloton, NFL Football, and Dignity Health, and her work has been signed with multiple publishers, libraries and licensing agencies. 
 

Paris is a voting member of the Recording Academy, and an Industry Mentor at GRAMMY U.  She is on the Board of Directors of the Hawaii Songwriting Festival. She leads the Malibu Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), where she hosts songwriting workshops, industry panels, and music events. She is on the judging panel of the Intercontinental Music Awards, the staff of the Durango Songwriters Expo, and the SongArts Committee for the Society of Composers and Lyricists. Paris hosts music and charity events, and she produces "Nitanee's Nashville Nights" in Los Angeles, a showcase for hit songwriters and local talent, and the ArtistMax showcase at the iconic Hotel Cafe in Hollywood for new artists from around the world. She also hosts songwriting retreats including a castle retreat in France, where she leads workshops and creativity expansion exercises. Paris created the Malibu Teen Songwriters group, to provide collaboration opportunities for young writers, and to help them to build confidence and nurture their creative talents. 
 

As a collaborator, Paris works with notable writers including Grammy-winning musicians, composers, and producers, Songwriters Hall of Fame and Musicians Hall of Fame Inductees; as well as contestants on The Voice, Songland, and America's Got Talent, and many other talented artists around the world. Her writing has earned her five Global Peace Song Awards, two Positive Music Awards, and three Grand Prize Awards and a Lennon Award in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, among many other accolades. She has a passion for mentoring young writers and helping artists navigate the music industry by building their craft and expanding their networks.

With over 30 years of experience as an Engineer, Producer, Chief Engineer and Director of Technology, Claus Trelby has established himself as a premier architect of high-fidelity sound. His career is defined by high-stakes collaborations with a diverse array of legendary icons, including Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Sting, Herbie Hancock, Peter Frampton, and Christine McVie. His versatility across genres is further evidenced by his work with artists ranging from The Beach Boys and Bette Midler to Rancid, REO Speedwagon, Dishwalla, and Aaron Neville. An Emmy-nominated professional for his work on Sting’s "All This Time," Claus combines a veteran’s ear with a pioneer’s approach to the next generation of audio technology.

 

Claus currently leads the immersive audio movement as the Chief Engineer of Marshmellow Skies, where he specializes in immersive mixing for the world’s most iconic catalogs. Alongside partner Ken Caillat, he recently mixed five seminal Joni Mitchell albums in Dolby Atmos, including the 2024 Grammy-winning Best Folk Album, Joni Mitchell at Newport. His deep expertise in spatial music has made him a trusted engineer for labels and premier acts such as Fleetwood Mac, The Gin Blossoms, Lady A, Billy Idol, Filter, and Colbie Caillat. By translating the emotional core of these performances into 3D space, Claus ensures that legacy recordings resonate with modern clarity and depth.

 

As a leading consultant in spatial audio, Claus serves as a key subject matter expert in the development and global implementation of the Eclipsa Audio format. Working at the intersection of hardware and content delivery, he provides vital technical guidance on the integration of this open-source spatial standard for industry leaders like Google and Samsung. His unique position allows him to influence how immersive media is rendered across billions of consumer devices, from mobile platforms to high-end home theaters. Claus continues to bridge the gap between technical innovation and the preservation of artistic intent, shaping the future of how the world experiences music.
